Just in case the prospect of building your own standing desk seems too daunting, here are some affordable manufactured standing desks.
The $4.39 Standing Desk
The simplest, quickest stand-up desk I have created involved simply putting a cardboard archive filing box on top of my existing desk. This works OK if you have a laptop, not so well if you have a desktop computer.
A $69.99 Wooden Laptop Stand
If cardboard doesn’t meet your esthetic needs, this attractive, wood-grain-finished desktop stand might be more to your liking. Like the cardboard box, you can’t adjust the height, but this is another quick and inexpensive way to have a standing desk. Just set it on top of your existing desktop.
A $200 Fixed-Height Standing Workstation
This fixed-height workstation is a good solution if you have a desktop computer with a separate monitor and CPU. This model comes with casters, so it’s a good solution if you need a moveable desk.
A $260 Adjustable-Height Desk
If you share your desk with co-workers or switch from standing to sitting on a stool, an adjustable-height desk like this one gives you the flexibility you need. You can adjust the height of the work surface from 35 to 49 inches, which should accommodate folks of almost any height.
