Fitness Principles

Office work is in almost complete opposition to the principles and goals of physical fitness.

  • You need to be strong, but office work provides few opportunities to use or develop your muscles.
  • You need to be flexible, but sitting in the same position all day does nothing to help your flexibility.
  • You need to be aerobically fit, but sedentary office work keeps you from improving your aerobic capacity.

Other components of physical fitness – like endurance, speed, power, balance, posture, core stabilization, body-fat composition, and reaction time – are also challenged by office work.

This website is devoted to helping you understand and apply fitness principles so that you can stay fit for work, and fit at work.
